Frequently asked questions
A ring cake pan is a tall, round cake pan with fluted sides and a tube in the middle. It gives your cake its classic ring shape with pretty ridges and bakes rich batters evenly.
A tube pan often has straight, smooth sides and is popular for angel food cake. A ring cake pan is fluted, so your cake comes out with decorative ridges all around.
Yes, we recommend it, even with a non-stick coating. Brush every ridge and the tube with soft butter and dust with flour, so the detailed pattern releases cleanly and looks its best.
Let the cake rest in the pan for about ten minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack. If it hesitates, tap the pan gently and give it another minute.
We recommend washing it by hand with warm water and a soft sponge or brush. Dishwasher detergent is aggressive and dulls the ceramic coating over time, and that coating is what helps your cake release.
Fill it about two-thirds full. That leaves the batter enough room to rise in the oven, and your cake still turns out with a lovely shape and clearly defined ridges.
Rich batters feel most at home here: marble cake, poppy seed cake, lemon cake, nut cakes and chocolate cakes. Yeast doughs for festive wreaths and sweet breads are lovely in it too.
It is made of aluminized steel with a double ceramic reinforced non-stick coating that is PFOA-free, applied inside and out. Our logo is embossed on the tube in the middle.
