Ingredients
- For the Dough
- For the Homemade Blueberry Jam
Directions
-
1
Rinse the fresh blueberries thoroughly and let them drain. In a saucepan, bring the blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice to a boil over medium heat.

-
2
Stir occasionally and let simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the blueberries burst and the mixture thickens. Optionally, add vanilla extract to intensify the flavor. Remove the jam from the heat and let it cool.

-
3
In a large bowl, combine the flour with the dry yeast. Add sugar and salt, and mix well. Make a well in the center and add the beaten egg, lukewarm milk, and softened butter. Knead everything into a smooth dough.

-
4
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until it doubles in size.

-
5
Stir the homemade blueberry jam to make it smoother and easier to spread.

-
6
Shape the risen dough into a roll on a lightly floured surface. Cut the roll into about 8-10 equal pieces and form each piece into a ball. Flatten each ball into an oval shape and spread some jam on it.

-
7
Cut slits in the middle of each dough surface (not all the way through) and roll it up from one side to form a spiral. Ensure that the blueberry jam is evenly distributed and visible from the outside.

-
8
Place the spiral buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover them, and let them rise for another 20 minutes. Brush with beaten egg. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C. Bake the buns in the preheated oven for about 15-18 minutes until golden brown.

-
9
Remove the spiral buns from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
