Ingredients
- - 1 sheet of puff pastry
- - 1 egg yolk
- - 1 tablespoon of cream or milk
- - Pearl sugar
- - 250 grams liquid cream (32 % fat)
- - 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar
- - Optional: ground pistachios for garnish
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F)
- Take a sheet of puff pastry from the refrigerator and let it thaw. Roll it out gently with a rolling pin
- Cut the pastry each about 2 cm wide
- Lightly grease the Cream Horn forms (made of aluminum and cone-shaped) with a bit of oil
- Start at the narrow end of the form, wrapping the puff pastry strips around it, slightly overlapping to create the horn shape
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolk with a tablespoon of cream or milk
- Brush the wrapped puff pastry with the egg yolk mixture and sprinkle with pearl sugar, pressing it lightly to make it stick
- Place the prepared Cream Horns on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, until they are lightly golden and crispy
- While the Cream Horns are baking, prepare the filling. Whip the heavy cream with a tablespoon of powdered sugar until it forms stiff peaks
- Allow the baked Cream Horns to cool completely and gently remove the aluminum molds
- Fill a piping bag with the whipped cream and pipe the cream into the cooled horns
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar and garnish with ground pistachios if desired.
