Ingredients
- - 150 g soft butter
- - 180 g sugar
- - 3 eggs (size M)
- - 200 g all-purpose flour (type 405)
- - 1 tsp baking powder
- - 1 pinch of salt
- - 1 untreated orange (zest and juice)
- - 80 ml freshly squeezed orange juice
- - 1 tsp vanilla extract
- - 100 g powdered sugar
- - 2–3 tbsp orange juice
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Grease a rectangular pan (10 x 20 cm) and lightly flour it, or line it with parchment paper.
- Beat the soft butter with the sugar for about 3–4 minutes until creamy.
- Gradually add the eggs, beating continuously until fluffy.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the orange zest and vanilla extract to the butter-egg mixture.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and 80 ml of freshly squeezed orange juice to the batter, mixing until everything is well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared rectangular pan and smooth it out.
- Bake the cake in the preheated oven for about 35–40 minutes. Test with a wooden skewer – if it comes out clean, the cake is done.
- Let the cake cool slightly in the pan, then turn it out onto a wire rack and allow it to cool completely.
- Mix the powdered sugar with 2–3 tbsp of orange juice to form a smooth glaze.
- Pour the glaze over the cooled cake.
