Ingredients
- - 250 g all-purpose flour (2 cups)
- - 30 g sugar (2 tbsp)
- - A pinch of salt
- - 5 g dry yeast (or 10 g fresh yeast) (1 tsp)
- - 125 ml lukewarm milk (1/2 cup)
- - 40 g soft butter (2 1/2 tbsp)
- - 1 egg (size M)
- - 150 g ground hazelnuts (or walnuts) (1 1/2 cups)
- - 50 g sugar (1/4 cup)
- - 1 tsp cinnamon
- - 1 egg white (keep the yolk for brushing)
- - 2–3 tbsp milk
- - 1 tsp vanilla extract
- - 1 egg yolk
- - Chopped or sliced hazelnuts (to taste)
- - Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Directions
- Mix the yeast, 1 tsp sugar, and a little lukewarm milk in a well in the flour. Let rest for 10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the remaining dough ingredients and knead into a smooth, elastic dough. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
- For Nut Filling
- Mix all filling ingredients into a spreadable mixture.
- For Shaping
- Divide the dough into 10 pieces, roll each into a triangle, and spread filling on the wide side. Roll tightly into horn shapes.
- For Rising and Baking
- Let the horns rise for 20 minutes, brush with egg yolk, and sprinkle with hazelnuts.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15–18 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
